Icelandic Minister Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson regrets speed limit violation incident

Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, the Icelandic Minister for the Environment, expressed regret over a recent incident where a ministerial car was driven at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour. He shared an image on his Instagram account showing the car’s speedometer indicating the violation of the speed limit, which was set at 90 kilometers per hour.

“We must always be cautious, and this instance did not adhere to that principle, which is very unfortunate,” he stated. Although he emphasized he was not driving, he acknowledged the importance of respecting speed limits and recognized the responsibility of those in such positions to lead by example.

When asked if he considers the posting of the image unfortunate, he conceded, “Yes, yes. There’s no doubt about it.”

Guðlaugur was attending a party council meeting for the Independence Party, where he delivered a speech addressing the party’s current status and the challenges ahead. He noted a growing demand for the party’s principles and called for increased action to demonstrate their commitment to freedom and reform.
