Robin Tino Kristian Kivistö, a 15-year-old previously convicted of murder and firearm offenses, is facing new charges for multiple crimes. The unusual aspect of the case is that Kivistö allegedly committed some of these offenses while out on bail after his conviction.

On May 8, Kivistö received a prison sentence for murder and firearm offenses related to an incident that occurred in Pori last New Year’s Eve. However, he was not remanded in custody at that time. In July, it was reported that he was taken back into custody after engaging in further criminal activity.

Heikki Kohijoki, the prosecutor in the Pori murder case, explained that the reason Kivistö remained free was due to a recent Supreme Court ruling. “The Supreme Court decided in spring that the severity of the crime alone is not enough justification for continued detention; there must be other reasons such as ongoing criminal behavior or flight risk,” Kohijoki stated.

Kivistö’s new charges include drug use, driving without a license, aggravated drunk driving, assault, attempted extortion, illegal threats, and vandalism. During a court session on Monday, Kivistö was read the charges at the Satakunta District Court, which also included serious assault incidents from 2023. The prosecutor is seeking a prison sentence and further detention of Kivistö, arguing that it is likely he will continue his criminal activities.

The prosecutor emphasized that Kivistö’s prior criminal record should be considered an aggravating factor in sentencing, indicating a disregard for the law. Kivistö admits to some offenses but denies more serious charges, such as aggravated assault and assault. A verdict in this case is expected on September 9.
