Prosecutors seek sentence for woman accused of murder attempts and payment fraud in Vantaa

Prosecutors are seeking a sentence for a middle-aged woman accused of attempting to murder two of her relatives, a man and a woman, as well as committing two serious cases of payment fraud. The case is linked to a police operation in Keimola, Vantaa, that occurred in April. During this operation, police were responding to a situation involving threats to life and health at a private residence.

According to the prosecutor, the accused had written a suicide note stating that neither she nor her relatives should be resuscitated. The background of the alleged actions stems from an eviction notice issued by the enforcement authority. Following a legal process lasting over a year, all three individuals were removed from the apartment. The accused attempted to find a new home but was unsuccessful due to financial difficulties by the afternoon of the eviction date. The alleged attempts on the relatives’ lives were thwarted by the random arrival of a representative from the rental company.

The relatives sustained life-threatening injuries and would likely have died without prompt medical attention. The fraud charges relate to the accused’s actions involving her relatives’ bank accounts and the resulting unauthorized financial gain.

The prosecutor stated that the victims were entirely defenseless, as both relied on the accused for daily care and assistance due to health issues. They had no external contacts for help. The prosecution described the actions as premeditated and particularly brutal due to the vulnerability of the victims. The accused denies the murder attempts but admits to the two serious assaults, and she also disputes the fraud charges, acknowledging lesser payment fraud offenses. She has requested a psychological evaluation. The trial commenced today at the East Uusimaa District Court.
