Ähtäri City Council demands resignations from True Finns party members over confidentiality breach

Friday 23rd August 2024 on 15:48 in Finland

The Ähtäri City Council is demanding that two members of the True Finns party voluntarily resign from their official positions. At the request of Yle Pohjanmaa, the city of Ähtäri released a partially confidential meeting record on Friday, which cites a breach of confidentiality as the reason for the resignation request. The individuals involved are Juha Nortunen, a member of the city council from the True Finns party, and Jarkko Salo, the vice chair of the audit committee, also from the same party.

The council made its decision to request the resignations during a meeting on Monday, during which the discussion was marked as confidential. Despite attempts by Yle to reach someone from the Ähtäri city administration for further comment on the reasons behind this request, no one has been available to provide clarity.
