Kristján Ólafur Guðnason, the chief of police for the region, confirmed this development, noting that the investigation is ongoing and further information is currently unavailable.

Authorities were alerted to the couple’s situation around 12:30 PM yesterday, prompting an immediate suspicion towards the man who was subsequently apprehended in Reykjavik later that day. Kristján clarified that there are no other suspects at this time, emphasizing that the investigation is focused solely on the individual in custody.
