Tram collides with individual in Hakaniemi, Helsinki, causing serious injuries and traffic disruptions

In Hakaniemi, Helsinki, a tram has collided with a person, according to the Helsinki Fire Department. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM on Friday. Fire Chief Tapio Tihtonen reported that the individual sustained serious injuries and has been transported to a hospital for further treatment.

The collision happened near the tram stops at Hakaniemi Market. The Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL) stated that this incident has caused traffic disruptions, and an alternative route is currently in place. Trams are now detouring between Karhupuisto and Helsinginkatu to bypass the affected area.

This incident follows another similar occurrence, where a tram also struck a person in front of the railway station the day before. Further updates on the situation are expected.
