Häme Police investigate Lux Beds From North following customer fraud complaints

The Häme Police are investigating Lux Beds From North, a bedding retailer, following reports from several customers who have filed criminal complaints. These complaints arise from customers not receiving beds they paid for in advance, with the company failing to issue refunds. Police suspect potential fraud within the company’s operations.

The allegations involve orders placed both at the physical store located in Renkomäki, Lahti, and through their online platform. The investigated cases date back to 2023 and 2024. Additionally, the Consumer Ombudsman announced a couple of weeks ago that they have filed a request for investigation with the police regarding Lux Beds From North’s trading practices.

At this stage, the police have refrained from disclosing the exact number of customers who believe they have been victims of fraud and have reported the matter to the authorities. The current owner of Lux Beds From North, Juhana Peltoniemi, asserts that the company has operated honestly and in good faith within the challenging constraints of a tough market situation. He explained via email to Yle that international supply chains are currently complex, leading to significantly prolonged delivery times.

Peltoniemi states that the company is cooperating with authorities as best as they can during the investigation. He became the owner of Lux Beds From North in the summer of 2024.
