Residents in southern Norway brace for autumn-like weather as rain and wind dominate this week
Residents in southern Norway should prepare for autumn-like weather, as rain and wind are expected to dominate this week. According to meteorologist Anne Solveig Andersen, the shift in weather signals a transition from summer to fall. The remnants of tropical storm Ernesto, which recently impacted Bermuda, are moving north and will bring substantial rainfall to the region.
This week, southern Norway will experience recurring rainfall, with a new system of precipitation expected to arrive daily. Although the storm system will weaken as it progresses northward to Nordland and Troms, the rain will still be significant. Andersen noted that while there are currently no warnings in place, they will continue to monitor the situation closely.
In contrast, northern Norway may enjoy clearer skies and warmer temperatures, with some areas expected to exceed 20 degrees Celsius in the coming days. However, parts of Finnmark are facing a heightened risk of forest fires, a concern that will persist as dry conditions continue.
As for the weather outlook, southern Norway can expect some improvement starting Sunday, although periods of rain will still occur. Andersen advises residents to take advantage of any breaks in the rain, as these drier spells may be fleeting. Forecasters predict less rain for southern areas next week, providing a glimmer of hope for those yearning for more summer-like conditions.
