Olsen Brother to Perform in Stykkishólmur Tonight

Tonight, Jörgen Olsen, one of the Danish Olsen brothers who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000, will take the stage during the festival concert in Stykkishólmur. The local mayor, Jakob Björgvin Sigriðarson Jakobsson, has reported a large turnout in the town and is expecting a vibrant atmosphere at the concert.

The celebration marks the 30th anniversary of the Danish Days festival in Stykkishólmur and has attracted several thousand festival-goers. Mayor Jakobsson described the event as a family gathering, almost like a reunion, with many former residents returning to participate.

“The atmosphere is very positive, with joy prevailing everywhere,” he said. “We are halfway through the festival and have the cherry on top with tonight’s concert, a fireworks display, and various other activities. We are here to live and enjoy, as the young people say.”

Jörgen Olsen, alongside his brother, famously triumphed at Eurovision with the song “Fly on the Wings of Love.” The mayor anticipates that many attendees are excited to see the Olsen brother perform live. He recounted a humorous situation from a few years back when members of the local Lions Club joked about the brothers coming to the town.

“There’s a real anticipation among people to finally see the actual Olsen brother in person,” he noted, highlighting the community’s eagerness for the performance and festive celebrations.
