Renate Reinsve, the acclaimed actress from Solbergelva in Drammen, is once again collaborating with director Joachim Trier, following their successful partnership on “The Worst Person in the World,” which earned her an Oscar nomination and a Cannes award. The cast list for her production company’s upcoming film has now been revealed.
Currently referred to as “Sentimental Value” by Trier and Deadline, the film is expected to undergo a title change, which has yet to be announced by Nordisk Film Distribusjon. Notable names joining the cast include veteran actor Stellan Skarsgård, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas—recently seen in the Danish Netflix hit “A Beautiful Life” (2023)—and American actress Elle Fanning, who has previously collaborated with Norwegian filmmakers, notably in “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” (2019), directed by Joachim Rønning.
Fanning also stars in the upcoming Bob Dylan film “A Complete Unknown.” Filming for the new project began this week in Oslo and is described as a humorous family portrait, with the ancestral home playing a significant role. There will also be a brief shoot in France.
Skarsgård portrays a filmmaker father who offers a role in his new movie to his daughter Nora, played by Reinsve, who is reluctant to accept. Lilleaas plays Nora’s sister, Agnes, while Fanning’s character is an American film star visiting Norway.
“This is an intimate film about family that I hope audiences will relate to,” says Trier, who collaborated again with Eskil Vogt on the screenplay. Skarsgård added, “It’s a delightful project, and I look forward to diving into Joachim’s playful seriousness.” The film is set to premiere on September 12, 2025.
