Earthquake recorded in Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland

A magnitude 3.0 earthquake occurred in Mýrdalsjökull just before 5 PM today. Following the initial quake, a smaller aftershock registered, and there has been no subsequent tremor activity, according to a statement from the Icelandic Meteorological Office. Earthquakes of this magnitude are common in Mýrdalsjökull, with the last significant quake—measuring 3.3—recorded on June 19.
