Forty-one teams took part in the Faroese FIRST LEGO League competition, where students developed ideas to address real-world challenges in nature, KVF reported.
This year’s theme was biodiversity. Students explored how plants, animals and ecosystems are connected, and how technology and innovation can help protect nature. The competition was held on Saturday at Skúlin á Fløtum, a school.
The overall winners were Koyr á blá, a team of students from class 6.E at Skúlin á Fløtum. Their project focused on invasive plants. Alchemilla from Eysturskúlin and Teir 5 seyðirnir av Sandi from Sands skúli placed second and third.
Teams were judged on robot building, robot programming, innovation and collaboration, with each category weighted equally. The two highest-placed teams earned places in the Nordic final in Aarhus on November 28.
