Father released after fatal stabbing in Efra Breiðholt

A father arrested after a stabbing in Efra Breiðholt last week that resulted in a death has been released from custody, mbl.is reports. His lawyer, Guðmundur St. Ragnarsson, confirmed the release to the outlet.

The father had been remanded in custody until November 9. The case concerns an outdoor confrontation between the father and son and two other men. The dispute reportedly began over an alleged attempt by the man who died to extort money from the son.

The other man who was with the deceased was also injured and taken to hospital with stab wounds. Police have said his condition is stable.

The father reportedly suffered an injury to one finger during the confrontation, and the son was also injured. The son remains in custody.
