mbl.is reports that the latest episode of the programme Spursmál will examine Viðreisn’s political future after voters rejected its push for Iceland to join the European Union, as well as questions surrounding state energy company Landsvirkjun.
Björn Bjarnason is a guest on the programme. In a new book, he assesses the referendum held on August 29 and asks what political purpose Viðreisn has now that Iceland is not heading towards EU membership. The discussion will also cover Iceland’s relations with the EU and other partner countries.
The programme will also discuss Finance Minister Daði Már Kristófersson, who has been accused of misleading Alþingi, Iceland’s parliament, in responses about Landsvirkjun. Questions have also been raised about political interference in the company, described in the article as the country’s most valuable.
Former MP and minister Álfheiður Ingadóttir, who served on Landsvirkjun’s board intermittently for 15 years, and MP and former Finance Minister Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson will join the discussion. The episode is open to everyone and is scheduled to begin at 14:00 on Friday.
