Iceland records its warmest November start this century
Iceland has had its warmest start to November this century, meteorologist Trausti Jónsson says in a blog post, according to mbl.is.
Warm weather is likely to continue over the next few days, but Jónsson says the outlook beyond that remains uncertain as winter gradually takes hold.
Cold air could soon reach Iceland from the north. Computer forecasts have recently been reliable several days ahead, he says, while longer-range forecasts have been less certain. Forecasts of cold northerly or westerly winds have not materialised.
Jónsson also says El Niño is unusually strong this year, but its effects in Iceland are not known. He expects any impacts to be indirect and difficult to link to the weather phenomenon.
