A pizzeria in Rødding was vandalised overnight, with a window smashed and graffiti bearing a racist slur followed by “out of DK” painted on the building. DR reported that police believe the incident may be linked to five other cases.

The latest vandalism comes less than two weeks after residents held a demonstration called “Rødding against racism”. Three business owners with immigrant backgrounds had recently experienced vandalism in the town in southern Jutland.

The pizzeria’s owner declined to comment. Residents Freddy Schmidt and Bent Jessen described the vandalism as upsetting and unacceptable.

South and South Jutland Police said the six incidents occurred on four dates over a short period and had similarities in how they were carried out. The force suspects they may have been committed by the same person or people.

Police said their investigation is examining the motive, including the possibility of a hate motive, but that it is too early to draw conclusions. They urged anyone with information to contact them.
