Serious traffic accident on E6 highway near Snåsavatnet in Norway

A serious traffic accident involving two passenger vehicles and two trucks occurred on the E6 highway near Snåsavatnet. Officials report that the incident was a head-on collision caused during an overtaking maneuver.

According to Karl Morten Flasnes, the operational leader at the scene, one individual sustained severe injuries and has been transported by air ambulance to St. Olav Hospital. Another person is receiving treatment on-site from an ambulance crew.

The accident was reported to authorities at 12:36 PM. Initial investigations indicate that the overtaking vehicle first collided with a passenger car before colliding head-on with a truck.

The driver who executed the overtaking maneuver was alone in their vehicle and is seriously injured. In total, three individuals are involved in the incident, along with the truck driver. Police have begun both technical and tactical investigative measures.

Flasnes also mentioned that the government Accident Investigation Team and crime scene technicians have been alerted to assist in the investigation.

Traffic in the area is significantly impacted, with the E6 closed for the time being. Authorities anticipate that the road may remain closed for several hours, advising motorists to use alternative routes via Namsos on Fv 17 and Fv 760 from Grong and Aspkrysset.
