V MP backed a ban on Pride flags at government buildings

Left Party MP Mohamed Ali replied “Yes pls” to a pro-Trump account asking whether Pride flags should be banned from government agency buildings, SVT reports.

The response, posted on X on November 9, 2024, is the only post currently visible on Ali’s account. The original post is no longer available on X because the account that published it has been suspended.

SVT said it verified Ali’s reply using an archived version of the original post and a screenshot shared on Telegram. The post asked whether Pride flags should be banned from all government agency buildings.

The report follows revelations by Aftonbladet that Ali had written conspiracy claims on X about the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel, including claims that the CIA and Mossad knew about the attacks in advance and allowed them to happen. Ali told the newspaper the post was rushed, inappropriate and unsupported. He said he should have deleted it but had missed it, and that it did not reflect his current views.

SVT said it was seeking comment from Ali and the Left Party.
