Young person fabricated Oulu assault report, police say

Police say an alleged assault on a girl under 18 in Hiironen, Oulu, did not happen. Yle reported that the investigation found the report was unfounded.

Police received a report a week ago alleging that the girl had been assaulted with a sharp object. The young person who made the report had invented the story, Oulu police communications chief Tero Väyrynen told Yle.

Police say no crime took place.
