Pro-Russian hacker groups claim responsibility for Monday’s widespread hacking of refrigerators and refrigerated display cases in Europe, including Danfoss thermostats, DR reports.
DR Verificerer says it accessed a Telegram channel claiming to be the official channel of the group NoName057(16). A video titled “Operation Chronicle: Danfoss” says the group carried out the refrigerator hack in cooperation with another pro-Russian group, Z-Pentest.
Both groups are known to Danish authorities. The EU has previously linked Z-Pentest to the hacking of a waterworks near Køge.
DR Verificerer found 500 email addresses on a closed network that allegedly belonged to Danfoss employees. After accounting for duplicates, it found 167 email addresses and passwords.
Danfoss told DR it was aware of the groups’ claims but had no indication of a successful attack on its internal IT infrastructure or a data breach.
