Iris Helga’s daughter testifies in stalking case
Iris Helga Jónatansdóttir’s daughter testified at Reykjanes District Court on Wednesday, the third day of the trial against Iris, mbl.is reported. Iris is charged with stalking, defamatory insinuations, document forgery, making false accusations and offences under child protection law.
The girl’s father, who is also Iris’s former fiancé, appeared in court but declined to give evidence. Neither he nor his daughter was required to testify.
The daughter, who is under 18, described her connections to some of the complainants. She said she knew two of Iris’s former boyfriends, as well as the daughter of one of them and the current partner of the other. She knew the remaining complainants only slightly.
Several of the charges concern one of Iris’s former boyfriends and his partner. Iris is accused of being responsible for syrup being put through the partner’s letterbox.
The daughter previously told child protection authorities that she had been made by her parents to do things that were not acceptable, including putting syrup through letterboxes. Iris has said the authorities pressured her daughter to make that claim. In court on Wednesday, the daughter said Iris had never asked her to do anything unusual. She also said the former boyfriend had behaved strangely towards her, including buying her flowers.
Asked about a trip to Breiðdalsvík, the daughter said she and Iris had camped in the backyard of a country property belonging to one of Iris’s friends, just outside Egilsstaðir. They later went to Breiðdalsvík, where another of Iris’s former boyfriends lived and worked with his daughter, but did not visit their workplaces. Iris is accused of following the father and daughter and going to their places of work.
