Six students have started a new IT support programme in the Faroe Islands, where the school-based part of the training is being offered locally for the first time, KVF reports.

The two-and-a-half-year programme combines classroom study at Miðnám á Kambsdali, a school, with practical training at a workplace. Students will learn about computers and IT security, as well as how to help users and solve technical problems.

Until now, Faroese students had to travel to Denmark for the school-based part of the programme. The new course is intended to make it easier to train IT support staff for the Faroese labour market, where there is demand for people with IT skills.
