Gallup, Icelandic politics, opinion poll

The Centre Party has gained just over two percentage points in the latest Gallup poll, while support for the government has fallen to 47 per cent, mbl.is reported, citing RÚV. The poll found little change in support for most other parties.

The Social Democratic Alliance remains the country’s largest party, with just over 29 per cent support despite losing slightly more than one percentage point. It would win 21 seats if an election were held now.

The Independence Party is close behind on around 25 per cent, unchanged from the previous poll, and would win 18 seats. The Centre Party now has 17 per cent support, enough for 12 seats.

Viðreisn has 10 per cent, slightly less than in the previous poll, and would win seven seats. Jón Gnarr left the party’s parliamentary group during the polling period.

The Progressive Party remains at 6 per cent and would win four seats. The People’s Party has just under 4 per cent and would not enter parliament, while the Left-Green Movement’s 3.5 per cent would be enough for one constituency-elected MP.

Support for the government is down two percentage points from late September to 47 per cent. The online poll was conducted from September 29 to November 1, with a sample of 12,906 people and a response rate of 38.5 per cent.
