Kristersson faces near-impossible task of forming government

Ulf Kristersson’s task of forming a government appears almost impossible, according to SVT political analyst Mats Knutson. A parliamentary majority would require the Centre Party to join a governing bloc with the Sweden Democrats, he writes.

That would mark a dramatic reversal for the Centre Party. Its leader, Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist, reiterated the party’s red lines against the Sweden Democrats as recently as Tuesday, Knutson notes.
