A suspected cyberattack disrupted refrigeration and freezer systems at 30 Swedish grocery stores on Monday, forcing the disposal of food worth millions of kronor, SVT reported.
Temperatures in some freezers rose above 50 degrees Celsius. The attack took place overnight on November 2, but it is not yet clear how the attackers gained access to the Swedish systems.
At an ICA store in Sjöbo, food worth up to one million kronor is estimated to have been destroyed. Axfood said goods worth about three million kronor had to be discarded at its consumer-picking warehouse in Västra Frölunda.
A map showed 12 ICA stores, seven Coop stores and the Axfood warehouse. An ICA press officer said a further 11 ICA stores were affected.
