British guide carries 15kg of rubbish from Reykjadalur
A British woman carried 15kg of rubbish down from a bathing spot in Reykjadalur after finding dirty clothes, towels and beer cans there, mbl.is reports.
Rachel Sutcliffe, who works as a glacier guide in Iceland during the summer, shared a video of the rubbish on Instagram on October 23. The video shows her angrily condemning visitors who had left the natural attraction in that condition. The Daily Mail also reported on the incident.
Sutcliffe told the newspaper that the walk back down took about an hour and a half. She had set off early to be the first at the spot. When other visitors arrived, she asked whether they could help carry some of the rubbish down. Some agreed, while others ignored her.
Four young men said they would help, she said, but walked past her about 30 minutes after she began the descent. Sutcliffe was moving slowly and had to stop repeatedly. She said the men appeared embarrassed and hurried past without offering to help with the rubbish bag.
