Blue Lagoon’s planned listing on Nasdaq Iceland’s Main Market has drawn international media attention, mbl.is reports.

Bloomberg reported the plans on Friday, and The Economist featured the news among its leading stories on Saturday. The share offering and listing are scheduled for November, giving members of the public, employees and institutional investors the chance to invest in the company.

Chief executive Sigríður Margrét Oddsdóttir and founder and chairman Grímur Sæmundsen told the Financial Times that proceeds from the offering are intended to fund two new destinations: one in the highlands, planned for 2028, and another by a glacier, expected between 2029 and 2031.

Sæmundsen founded Blue Lagoon in 1992 to treat patients with psoriasis. He said the aim is for Iceland to become one of the world’s leading spa destinations within a decade, adding that interest in visiting the Arctic offers significant opportunities.
