The Ministry of Education and Children and its agencies spent just over 123 million krónur on advertising over the past four years, with most going to domestic entities, mbl.is reports.
Of the spending, 112.7 million krónur went to domestic entities and 20.6 million to foreign ones, including purchases on social media. The figures were provided by Education and Children’s Minister Inga Sæland in response to a question from Hildur Sverrisdóttir, a member of parliament for the Independence Party.
The ministry spent just over 27 million krónur on print advertising with media outlets and nearly 9 million on online ads with media outlets. Radio advertising cost just over 10 million, while television advertising cost 12.5 million.
The largest category was other advertising bought from domestic entities, at 54.1 million krónur. It includes advertising not purchased from media or social media, such as on Alfreð and ja.is, in the Official Gazette and in print publications that are not classified as media. The category also covers signs and other advertising materials, as well as advice and services related to advertising placements and campaigns.
