Man who died in Breiðholt reportedly visited sports bar
A young man who died after a stabbing in Breiðholt had visited Álfinum Sportbar earlier that evening and left before it closed at 1 a.m., sources told mbl.is.
Three men arrested on suspicion of causing his death are expected to be questioned later today. Police said two men were attacked in Breiðholt overnight and found with injuries believed to have been caused by a knife. Both were taken to hospital; one was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, while the other remains in intensive care in stable condition.
Police were notified of the attack at 1.30 a.m. Sources say it happened near the Hraunberg shopping centre. There have also been reports of a fight between Fjölbrautaskólinn í Breiðholti, a secondary school, and Hólabrekkuskóli, a school, that night.
Police said three men were arrested near the scene. A police log also said three men were held in custody in connection with an investigation into a robbery and serious assault, but mbl.is could not confirm whether they were the same men or whether the cases were connected. Police are expected to provide more information after questioning.
