Colleagues, friends and politicians have paid tribute to journalist and TV host Troels Mylenberg after his family confirmed his death, DR reports. He was 56 and had been living with incurable cancer.
TV 2 presenter Natasja Crone, who said she had known Mylenberg since 1985, called him her friend and “my witness to life”. She wrote that his absence would be enormous and difficult to bear, adding that he continued going to football and playing golf until three weeks before his death.
TV 2 News presenter and cycling commentator Dennis Ritter described Mylenberg as a role model, an inspiration and an exceptionally kind colleague. TV 2 content director Ulla Pors said he was “exceptional” as both a person and a journalist, and praised his optimism, commitment and decency.
Mylenberg’s longtime friend Jeppe Nybroe called him “an exceptional beacon of the best in this world” as a father, husband, son, brother, journalist and friend. Children, elderly and housing minister Jacob Mark, who worked with Mylenberg on a book about himself and Liberal Alliance leader Alex Vanopslagh, said his death felt particularly unfair because Mylenberg seemed to love life. Conservative leader Mona Juul and Economy and Interior Minister Pia Olsen Dyhr also paid tribute.
Mylenberg was diagnosed with cancer in 2025 and learned early this year that it was incurable. Earlier this month, he published Skumring, a book in which he shared his thoughts on living with the illness and facing death.
He joined TV 2 in 2018 as a presenter on its news channel. Before that, he held senior roles at Jysk Fynske Medier and led the Centre for Journalism at the University of Southern Denmark. He is survived by his wife, Lis Mylenberg, and their four children.
