Temu has fallen from third to 10th among Denmark’s most-used online shops over the past year, DR reports, citing Dansk Industri’s E-commerce Tracker.

Mie Bilberg, an e-commerce chief consultant at Dansk Industri, said the decline was likely linked to new customs rules introduced in the summer. Previously, shoppers could order items such as hair ties directly from China for a few kroner. With customs charges pushing the price to 28 kroner, buying them at Føtex may now be cheaper, she told Ritzau.

The rules impose a customs duty of three euros on packages worth less than 150 euros. From November 1, a handling fee of two euros will also apply. German webshop Zalando remains the most-used online shop in Denmark, while Danish retailer Matas has taken third place from Temu.
