Viking Line customer data exposed in subcontractor breach

Customer information linked to 389 bookings with ferry company Viking Line was exposed in a breach at one of its subcontractors, the company confirmed to Yle.

The breach involved hotel booking confirmations. The stolen information included names, phone numbers, email addresses and details of hotel reservations.

Viking Line said current assessments indicate that attackers did not access card or payment information. The company has reported the breach to authorities in Finland and Sweden and contacted affected customers.

Ferry company Eckerö Line said on Thursday that it had also been hit by a cyberattack, in which customer information was exposed.
