Two Faroese lawmakers say it is too long to wait until next summer to begin proper drug treatment, KVF reports. Magni Højgaard of the Union Party and Eirikur í Jákupsstovu of Tjóðveldi made the case on KVF’s Breddin programme.

They said they hoped the prime minister would find funding to speed up the work. Health Minister Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen has appointed a working group to examine how addiction and withdrawal treatment services could be organised. Højgaard supports the move.

Both lawmakers said responsibility now rests with the prime minister.
