Iceland health forum examines peptide risks and promise
A University of Iceland and Landspítali forum will examine whether peptides are a medical breakthrough or a health risk, mbl.is reports. The meeting is scheduled for 11:45 to 13:15 today at Veröld, a University of Iceland venue, and will be streamed live.
The event is part of the autumn series “Our Health”, which aims to highlight current issues in health and healthcare, according to an announcement.
The programme includes presentations on illegal peptides by Viðar Guðjohnsen, a pharmacist at the Icelandic Medicines Agency; peptides explained in everyday terms by Hlíf Hauksdóttir, a pharmacist and owner of Apótek NOR; the future potential of peptides by Arna Guðmundsdóttir, an endocrinologist at Landspítali; and the need for strict medication administration by Bjarni Sigurðsson, a pharmacist at the Ministry of Health.
Rúna Hauksdóttir Hvannberg, director general of the Icelandic Medicines Agency, will join the speakers for a panel discussion.
