Pohde, the wellbeing services county for North Ostrobothnia, has softened its proposed cuts to family caregiver allowances, with reductions now capped at 15%, Yle reports.

In September, Pohde proposed cutting the two highest allowance tiers by 30% from next year. After a public consultation, the proposed cut was reduced to 15%. For example, the reduction in the second tier would be just over 150 euros.

The lowest tier would remain unchanged at the statutory minimum. The revised proposal also drops plans to end work activities for people with intellectual disabilities.

Pohde’s future committee is due to discuss the broad service plan and related savings on Friday. The overall savings planned for services are also set to be reduced slightly. The regional council will make the final decision on the service plan.

Pohde received 283 pieces of feedback and 163 formal statements during its consultation in September and October. Of the statements, 67 came from individuals and 96 from organisations.
