The question of full Faroese membership in the Nordic Council is unlikely to be considered until next year’s annual meeting, Høgni Hoydal told KVF. Hoydal is currently a deputy member of the council and is attending its annual meeting for the 28th time.
He expects a “lukewarm” compromise proposal that would allow the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland to take part in some way, but not as full and equal members.
If that is the outcome, Hoydal hopes the Faroese parliament will stand by its adopted position: full membership without caveats.
