The Faroe Islands Red Cross will mark its 100th anniversary with a live fundraising broadcast on Saturday, October 31, Kringvarp Føroya (KVF) reports. The event will be held at the Nordic House and streamed on KVF’s website from 7pm.
The programme will feature music, interviews and reports on the organisation’s century of work and its humanitarian aid in the Faroe Islands and abroad. It will include a look at the Red Cross summer camp, where children and volunteers spend time together, as well as a focus on the organisation’s first-aid volunteers. Messages from several countries and stories including accounts from Ukraine are also planned.
A painting created by Edward Fuglø for the anniversary will be auctioned during the broadcast, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross’s aid work. Elin á Rógvi and Uni Holm Johannesen will host the event, which will include more than 100 guests in the hall.
Performers on the programme include Annika Hoydal, Tøgn, Ólavur Højgaard and Martin Joensen, Danny Baldursson, Guðrun Sólja and Sophilia.
People who buy a raffle ticket on the Faroe Islands Red Cross website or text “GEV” to 91 56 56 will contribute 200 kroner and enter a draw for a new Mazda 6e electric car. Companies, organisations, municipalities and institutions are also invited to support the fundraiser through the Red Cross website.
