Järvenpää, police, schools

A 13-year-old boy behaved aggressively toward pupils at a school in Järvenpää on Wednesday, police told Yle. A few children were mildly injured.

The incident involved 13 people, most of them first-grade pupils. Järvenpää’s director of education, Arja Korhonen, said the boy swung at pupils and teachers and tried to kick them.

Police said they do not know the child’s motive, but the incident was not planned. The boy is a former pupil at Kartanon School, a comprehensive school with 900 pupils.

Police are contacting everyone involved through their guardians and are investigating the matter with social services and the school.
