Passengers from 87 countries travelled on ferry operator Strandferðslan’s vessels this summer, KVF reports. The operator analysed payment card use on its ships during June, July and August.

After the Faroese and Danes, the largest groups of payment card users were from the United States, Germany, China, Italy and France, Strandferðslan said in a press release.

A total of 232,664 people travelled on the operator’s island routes over the three summer months, more than 24,000 above the figure for the same period in 2025. That was an increase of 11.6 per cent. The figures also point to a rise in the number of foreign passengers.
