Valtonen to meet Rubio in Washington for Ukraine talks

Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen will meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington on Thursday, Yle reports, citing a statement from Finland’s Foreign Ministry.

The ministers are expected to discuss Russia’s war against Ukraine and other current foreign policy issues, as well as bilateral relations, including cooperation on technology and the economy.

“The meeting with Secretary Rubio comes at a good time and offers an opportunity for a confidential discussion on efforts to achieve peace in Russia’s war of aggression. Finland supports Ukraine’s goal of a sustainable and just peace,” Valtonen said in the statement.

Valtonen is also scheduled to discuss current foreign and security policy issues, as well as international economic and technology matters, with other US administration officials.
