The television series Vigilant, based on Skúli Sigurðsson’s crime novel Stóri bróðir, could begin airing in about a year, mbl.is reports.
Actor Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, who is leading the series’ scriptwriting, said filming will start on Friday and continue through January. He estimated the series could be ready eight or nine months after filming wraps.
Síminn will broadcast the series in Iceland, and Ólafur Darri said he hopes it will air around next Christmas. He and Sigurðsson discussed the scripts throughout the writing process and decided to give the characters different names from those in the book, allowing the TV and book characters to develop separately if the series continues.
Ólafur Darri said he expects the two to work together again in the future.
