Finland, Lapland, weather

Almost all of Finland will have an unusually mild night, Yle reports. Temperatures will begin to fall towards the end of the week, according to Yle meteorologist Aleksi Lohtander.

Wednesday is expected to be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius across the country. The weather is warmer than usual for the season, and exceptionally mild in Lapland.

An Atlantic low-pressure system is bringing warm, moist air from the south. Skies will be cloudy, with drizzle. Cloud cover is expected to limit overnight cooling.

On Friday, temperatures in southern Finland will remain around 10 degrees or slightly lower, while Lapland will see temperatures near 5 degrees. At the weekend, Lapland is forecast to fall below 5 degrees, with about 7 degrees in the south. Those temperatures would be close to seasonal averages, Lohtander said.

The chance of snowfall in Lapland is expected to increase next week, though the forecast could still change.
