Woman detained on suspicion of murder in Ockelbo

A woman has been detained on suspicion of murdering a man in his 70s in Ockelbo, SVT reports.

The man was found dead in a home on Monday, according to the Swedish Prosecution Authority. The woman is suspected on probable cause, the higher degree of suspicion under Swedish law.

“The investigation is at an early stage, and the police are now working to establish what happened through interviews and technical examinations,” prosecutor Malin Thörnvall Hillbom said in a statement.

The prosecutor must decide by noon on Thursday whether to ask for the woman to be remanded in custody or release her.
