Manfred has been found safe after two weeks missing, following an intensive search involving drones, wildlife cameras and volunteers, DR reports.

The Eurasier disappeared on October 10 after being frightened by a fireworks display at Djurs Sommerland. He was found at the weekend about seven kilometres from where he went missing.

People travelled from near and far to Djursland to help search, alongside the dog-search association Vi Finder Hund. Manfred’s owner, Josephine Sønderskov Hansen, said she had to stay calm when they found him. He did not recognise her until she came close, she said.

Manfred has been to the vet and escaped with only minor scrapes, but has lost some weight. Sønderskov Hansen said they can only guess what he ate while fending for himself, and that he is now being given nutrient-rich pâté as his stomach readjusts to normal food.

At home, Manfred is tired but otherwise behaving as his owner remembers, she said. He is somewhat more uncertain outdoors.
