Fallen overhead wires and damaged trams disrupted four tram lines in Helsinki on Monday morning, Yle reported, citing HSL, the public transport authority.

The wires fell on Pitkäsilta bridge, between Kaisaniemi and Hakaniemi, after being struck by a tall work vehicle, HSL communications specialist Jenni Vuorio said. The incident caused a power outage that damaged a couple of trams in Kaisaniemi.

The wires were repaired shortly before 10 a.m., but disruption to lines 3, 6, 7 and 9 could continue for some time. No estimate was available for when services would return to normal, Vuorio said.

The trams initially ran via Töölö. Before 10 a.m., they were able to reach Kaisaniemenkatu and continue from there to Kruununhaka.
