Costs and a lack of information about green energy solutions are holding some people back from switching, despite general support for the green energy transition, a survey reported by KVF has found.

SEV presented the survey at the Varandi heimur conference at the Nordic House. About 900 people responded, sharing their views on the transition. Similar surveys were conducted in 2019 and 2023, allowing changes in attitudes to be tracked.

People who have already switched from oil to another heating system are generally satisfied with their decision. Among those who have not switched, cost and a lack of knowledge about green energy solutions are the main barriers.

SEV communications officer Eydna Joensen said measures are needed to reduce uncertainty and help people feel more confident when deciding whether to change their heating system.
