A 39-year-old police commissioner admitted to swapping wine bottles to obtain more expensive wine at a lower price, DR reported. The fraud took place three times at the Fleggaard border shop in Harreslev in June, July and August 2025.

The case was heard at Sønderborg District Court on Friday. The commissioner also admitted driving a police car to the shop on one occasion.

Fleggaard reported the case after noticing irregularities in its stock of more expensive wine. The store reviewed video footage and saw what it believed was fraud. Because the accused works for the police, the investigation was conducted by the Independent Police Complaints Authority.

Special prosecutor Jesper Sønderup said the video footage was not reviewed in court because the commissioner admitted guilt. Sønderup is seeking a fine of 14,500 kroner.

The commissioner also faced a charge of using his personal phone to photograph entries in police systems. He denied that charge, which was reduced.

The court is due to deliver its ruling in a week. The commissioner and his defence lawyer declined to comment. DR said it was seeking a response from the National Police about whether the case would affect his employment.
