The Faroe Islands’ green energy transition appears to have stalled, with no new wind turbines erected despite ambitious plans, KVF reports.

In 2024, the government planned to establish five new wind farms in the islands within five years. But the plans have been held up by protests and further environmental assessments.

The new ABC coalition says in its agreement that it will “speed up the green transition”. Energy Minister Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen will discuss what the government plans to do on KVF’s radio programme Breddin.

The programme will also report from the Varandi heimur conference, taking place today and tomorrow at Norðurlandahúsið, a conference venue. Breddin airs at 10 a.m.
