Rain and drizzle return as Finland’s dry spell ends
Finland’s prolonged dry spell is set to end as the weather turns more unsettled over the weekend, Yle reports, citing meteorologist Henriikka Heikinoja. High pressure east of the country is giving way to a pattern dominated by low pressure.
Rain spreads north on Saturday
Friday will be mostly dry, though isolated showers are possible in southern and central Finland. Western Lapland may see fog and drizzle. Rain will reach the south and west from the southwest in the evening. Temperatures will range from just over 10 degrees Celsius in the south to below 5 degrees in Lapland.
On Saturday, a weather front will move north. By afternoon, it is expected to bring light showers and rain to Lapland, with light rain and drizzle in central Finland and parts of the south. A drier, occasionally clearer area may remain in the south. Temperatures are forecast to stay close to Friday’s levels.
Winds strengthen on Sunday
Southerly winds will pick up, particularly in southwestern Finland. Cloud cover will remain extensive, with drizzle and light showers in most of the country. The south may again have a clearer stretch.
Temperatures are expected to remain milder than usual for the time of year. Overnight lows will stay above zero in most parts of Finland, with little difference between daytime and night-time temperatures in many areas.
