Aalborg warming center seeks winter clothes for homeless people

Aalborg, homelessness, winter clothes

A warming center run by Kirkens Korshær in Aalborg has begun collecting winter clothes earlier this year after a cold winter, DR reports. The clothes will go to homeless and vulnerable people who stay overnight at the center.

Many of those who come to the center have only the clothes they are wearing, says Lene Højland Laursen, the organisation’s regional manager in North Jutland. As temperatures fall, they need help getting warmer clothes.

The center has sneakers and short-sleeved tops but needs warm winter jackets and sturdy boots in a range of sizes. It also needs enough boots to replace wet pairs with dry ones.

People can drop off spare winter clothes at the center. Laursen says cold can make the physical and mental difficulties faced by people who use the center worse.
